Fishing and mining guide

Take a break from battle to fish or mine. In both, your tool earns points and can be upgraded.

Fishing

Stand in a fishing area with a fishing rod and put on bait first, such as a Worm. A fish bites within 6 to 10 seconds and you have 6 seconds to pull.

The rod earns points as you fish. With enough points you can upgrade it; there are 20 levels. The first steps succeed 100%, 80% and 70%, then 39%. A successful upgrade resets the points; a failed one loses half of them.

About 24 kinds of fish and crab can be caught, each also as a dead and a grilled version, plus oysters. While fishing you cannot mount, take off the rod, or change costume or sash.

Mining

Hit an ore vein with a Pickaxe and an ore drops every 10 to 13 seconds; from pickaxe level 5 this falls to 7 to 10 seconds.

There are 18 ore types: Copper, Silver, Gold, Jade, Ebony, Pearl, White Gold, Crystal, Amethyst, Heaven's Tear, Soul Crystal, Ruby, Garnet, Emerald, Sapphire, Tourmaline, Diamond and Fossil Wood. Each comes raw and refined.

The pickaxe earns points too and can be upgraded up to level 10; a failed upgrade loses 10% of its points.
